Farm Crafts for Preschool Kids
There isn’t much that’s more exciting than a farm craft for preschool children. They learn the critters’ sounds at an early age, hear all about them in nursery rhymes, and they may even visit them at a petting zoo once or twice. So, to make their own versions is just about as fun as can be!
Below, we’ve gathered some of the cutest farm crafts for preschool kids. Try one or try them all — your kiddo will surely enjoy the artistic ventures and adorable creations that come from the process.
Marble-Painted Muddy Pigs
This is a fun one for everyone involved. It not only creates a cute little piggy, but it also involves fine and gross motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and more. The uniqueness brings out an excitement that’s hard to beat, too.
Materials:
- 1 washable tray with raised edges (or a closed tupperware container for the youngest kids)
- 1 small ball (think marbles, bouncy balls, golf balls, etc.)
- 1 piece of plain white paper
- 1 piece of pink paper
- Tape
- Scissors
- Brown paint
Instructions:
Step 1 Start by drawing or printing and cutting out a picture of a pig.
Step 2 Next, tape your pig in the middle of your tray. If you’re using a tupperware, place the pig inside and close the lid.
Step 3 Place drops of brown paint all around (but not on) your pig.
Step 4 Place a ball on the tray and show your child how to tilt it around, allowing the ball to roll through the paint piles and across the pig.
Step 5 Let your little one roll the ball around as long as they’d like. It’s great for their budding gross motor and coordination skills!
Fork-Print Fluffy Chicks
This farm craft for preschool kids is all about process art. It uses out-of-the-box tools and creates a creature your little one is likely to love.
Materials:
- 1 piece of plain white paper
- Orange paper
- Scissors
- Yellow paint
- Fork
- Googly eyes or a black marker
- Glue
Instructions:
Step 1 Start by letting your child dip the fork into the yellow paint, pressing its flat bottom on the paper in a somewhat circular space.
Step 2 Once the chick’s body is filled in to your little one’s liking, glue on the legs, beak, and googly eyes to finish your creation!
Tiny Toe Tractor Footprints
Get ready to hear some giggles, because this farm craft for preschool kids involves a paintbrush being rubbed all over your child’s little feet! It creates the coolest farm vehicle at the same time, too.
Materials:
- 1 piece of plain white paper
- Paint (let your little one choose the color they’d like their tractor to be!)
- Construction paper in two shades (Again, this is a great chance to let your kids choose)
- Glue
- Black marker
Instructions:
Step 1 Cover your kiddo’s foot in the paint of their choosing and place it down on the paper, angled downward.
Step 2 Cut out wheels (and make them bumpy if you choose!) and a top for the tractor’s cabin.
Step 3 Glue the paper pieces into place and draw two lines downward with the black marker to complete the cabin.
These farm crafts for preschool kids are easy to create and easy to love, too. Try one or even take a chance at creating all three with your child this week. And if you ever need more farm-themed activities, My Pre-K Box is an excellent choice. Our September box is filled with fun farm learning, and each month to follow will come with an exciting overall theme as well.
